Developer on a number of Java/J2EE projects. From 2007 until now, lead developer on the Java backend of Post Danmark's Mobile Infrastructure (PMI).
The PMI application acts as a broker between the 15000+ mobile device clients used by all Post Danmark's delivery personnel, and the various postal legacy systems: It imports data from these legacy systems and pushes it out to the clients. The clients themselves also generate data, and this is sent back to the broker backend, which distributes it to the relevant legacy systems (track & trace, SAP, datawarehouse, etc.).
The tasks pushed to the mobile devices include data which allows the users to do their time registration, tasks representing service agreements the users should be aware of, and also tasks representing every single parcel delivered by Post Danmark.
The backend/client communication is handled by a JMS gateway, which is capable of handling thousands of simultaneous connections.
The backend has its own Oracle database (which includes a temporal database design which handles historical data), but also communicates with a number of legacy systems, either directly to/from their databases, or through queue mechanisms such as MQ.
A large administration web interface has also been built for the PMI backend, which allows (super) users to manually enter task registrations, create new, "local" tasks, generate sub-structures for every route representing e.g. large business customers, and much more.
